In recent years, with the development of Rich Internet Application (RIA) technology and tools, current web applications'user interfaces are transferring from traditional hypertext semantics to desktop application. We use in this paper flash RIA technology and open source Red5 flow media services to achieve comprehensive real-time communication platform. This topic mainly solves several issues, In the first place, traditional applications lack user experience; in the second place, communication problem is an important factor in classroom teaching; in the third place, communication means lack of integration; in the fourth place, system generally lacks of specific education elements.Real-time voice communication platform is a special item of national important scientific and technological projects in eleventh five-year plan. This project is founded to speed up application of virtual experiment in education sector by Ministry of Education. The project results were applied as virtual experiment teaching system for Network Education School and English language skills training for Humanities Institute of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.This paper describes how to use Flex and Red5 technologies to build a comprehensive real-time voice communication platform, which mainly contains textual information, audio and video, user management, document sharing, the basic framework module. This platform also focus on scalability and portability in order to introduce more in the future means of communication such as Email, micro blog, SNS and so on. In the text message module, through shared objects and remote operation we developed information exchange to support real-time text communication module, including group chat and private chat in two ways. In the audio and video module, through the Red5 flow media service provider of unified management of audio and video stream, including storage, forwarding and control. In the user management module, the user group permissions management, authority is divided into five, followed by decreasing; while giving teachers more authority role in operations. In document sharing module provides users with document sharing and downloading capabilities to support multi-file uploading. Module in the basic framework, the main configuration file for the platform to load, platform bottom set of parameters, platforms and advanced preparation for flow media servers. Finally, in the paper for each module functional testing and performance testing results, and summarized the thesis of innovation.
