WSON (Wavelength Switched Optical Network), which is WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplex) based Automatically Switched Optical Network (ASON), is the standard intelligent wavelength division network supported by IETF. Therefore, the combination of ASON/GMPLS control plane and WDM technology is the evolvement trends of optical networks. However, in translucent/transparent optical networks, due to the lack of 3R regeneration, Physical impairments will accumulate along the path, which may degrade optical signal quality in long-haul transmission systems and make the data unrecognizable at the receiver. Therefore, physical impairments must be considered in optical control plane, in order to guarantee the quality of transmission of established light-path. Moreover, as the network scale increasing, the efficiency of control plane decision and the link information collection decreased sharply. So the multi-domain method is the necessity. In the multi-domain environment, the impacts of physical damage parameter to inter-domain and inner-domain are quite different. So the damage impacts to different link types need to consider independently. The method our paper purposed is to solve this.With the support of China 863 high-tech program projects, China Nature Science Found projects the author has done a lot of work in the key areas of the impairment aware WSON. The main contribution and innovation of this dissertation are described as follows.1. General instruction of the research background of WSON and analysis of key problems in impairment based WSON is given in this paper. Coordination of Management and Control system is proposed including architecture, key technique of control plane and key technique of management plane. The application of impairment aware routing in Coordination of Management and Control system is researched;2. Deeply researched the key technologies to implement impairment aware RWA algorithm in multi-domain WSON, proposed a mobile agent based impairment parameter collection meaning, and designed multi-domain impairment aware RWA algorithm which consists channel noise modeling, const function design and process of RWA implementation.3. Setup the Distributed Coordination of Management and Control testbed, design and develop OSPF based routing model on control plane. The performance of multi-domain impairment aware RWA algorithm is also analysis in this paper.
