Broadband access services require the development of high-speed and low-cost optical communication systems for local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and storage area networks (SANs).In such background, lOGbps data link interfaces, such as the 10-Gigabit Ethernet, SONET OC-192/SDH STM-64, and Fiber Channel, have recently been standardized. Multi-Source Agreements (MSAs) led to the development of 10G transceiver modules, so haveing intelligent functions to manage digital diagnosis monitor function, optical communication networks and link is required. With intelligent transceiver module it can provide convenient and effective monitoring method, making management simplicity.This paper made a research on the XFP optical transceiver module with the digital diagnosis monitor function, and did a deep study of optical module principle, digital diagnosis principle, INF-80771 agreement. Besides made hardware and software design of the monitoring system for optical module, also gave a common monitoring design mean of the XFP optical module with digital diagnostic function. Comparing with traditional monitoring system, this solution is flexibility and cost-effective. Five main monitoring parameters can be displayed in LCD module's screen, which makes those parameters of XFP module can be displayed in real time, these translated parameters are easy to be understood.With the increase of integrate circuit switch rate and PCB(Printed Circuit Board) density, Signal Integrity has become one of main problems in high-speed circuit design. Based on the Signal Integrity (SI) theory, this paper analyses some SI problems in a PCB system such as deflection and Crosstalk, discusses the solutions of relative problems, and also analyses high-speed level interface and differential signal design. Then this paper completed Demux/Mux function of high-speed signal lOGbps between low-speed signal 622Mbps, and that makes a good preparation for FEC coding.Finally, one novel testing schemes for optical transceiver module monitoring system and Mux/Demux function board is developed, which passed eyes-diagram and bit error rate test.
