With the rapid development of metropolitan rail transit systems, or MRTs, commuting by rails has become a more preferable choice. While real-time monitoring must be equipped to ensure the security of passengers and the stability of system operation, MRT needs to also provide various high-quality video services through what we call a CMIS, aka Cab Multimedia Information System. We believe that a Centralized Train Visualization Platform featuring media exhibitions, video surveillance and real-time TV and radio programs is the future of CMIS.In the first place, this thesis presents a comprehensive solution based on Ethernet, HD Video and embedded development technologies, after analyzing application notes of the Cab Visualization Platform from home and abroad. The design scheme is composed of a communal Ethernet transmission channel and an embedded multimedia client terminal platform which can then be divided into two parts. The first part is a video surveillance terminal with a CMOS camera, and the second part is a video display terminal with a HDMI module, sharing one communal board. Then this thesis details the design and implementation of the hardware circuits of the network control system of this Subway Visualization Platform. Based on the characteristics of embedded Linux operating system and DM368 hardware platform, we have devised appropriate circuits for Ethernet control, storage, power supply, HDMI display, audio transmission, serial communication, SD card control and USB interface. After that, this thesis details the setting up of software development platform based on DM368, including setting up cross-compile development environment, creating bootstrap, migrating kernels, and making root filesystem. At last, this thesis briefly introduces the designing process of application softwares upon which various network tests and video output tests had been done on our hardware platform. We also summarize the work have been done so far and list prospects for improvement.
