Vehicle navigation systems is an important part of intelligent transport system which integrates global positioning technology, geographic information system technology, database technology and communication technology. The growing tension of traffic and security requirements make more and more attention on ITS, and become a new direction of research and development. Therefore, the research and development of vehicle navigation control system has significant practical means.By analyzing the function of vehicle navigation systems, this paper describes the embedded system design related to vehicle navigation systems, GPS positioning theory and GPRS communications technology, the development of vehicle navigation system software based on Windows CE is described in detail. Embedded GPS vehicle navigation system is a combination of global positioning technology and GPRS wireless communication technology to S3C2440 ARM9 processor as the core platform for vehicle navigation systems. By analyzing the hardware of the system environment and the working mechanism of Windows CE, designing interactive commands of BootLoader codes and achieving the function of initialize platform; proposing and implementing the started manner suited to the system; focusing on the development of the flow-driven, achieving the driver development under Windows CE serial port and SD card. In this paper, the overall structure design of system is proposed based on structure of vehicle navigation system and a detail analysis and design of the functions of on-board equipment, data management center and every module. Accomplishing the analysis of GPS data, and completes receiving and sending of GPS data. Data Management Center focuses on database design and software control module of the concrete. A wireless network connection, real-time monitoring of vehicle conditions and the management of the driving directions is realized.GPS vehicle monitoring system will be more and more popular in our life.With the research deepen, the function of GPS vehicle monitoring system will be more perfect.The efficiency of vehicle management will be improved by GPS vehicle monitoring system.
