Ipv6 differentiates largely from Ipv4, the network fault detection technology based on IPv4 protocol cannot operate normally under Ipv6 protocol. Therefore the research and design on the system of Network fault detection should be an urgent task.The thesis origins from the actual production environment, according to the needs of network equipment spread wide geographically as well as the quick troubleshooting system failure, a factual system of Ipv6 network fault detection based on SNMP is designed and implemented in the thesis. According to the research at home and abroad of Ipv6 network management, the Protocol standard, management model, structure, working principle and operation of SNMP are described fully, the basic features of Ipv6 protocol and the differences between IPv6 and Ipv4 is also analyzed in the thesis. Furthermore the basic framework and methodology on Ipv6 network management is also worked out in the thesis. In terms of system requirements analysis the functional classification, framework and design is carried out. The core function of the Ipv6 network fault detection system based on TCP/IP protocol under Windows on the condition of SNMP++ is realized.This system has been running on trial in the specific production environment.
