Along with deep scientific research and continual development of LED technology, it becomes a development trend of using LED as LCD TV backlight. Compared with traditional Cold-cathode fluorescent lamps(CCFL) backlight, there are many advantages of LED because of its wider color gamut, faster response time, lower-voltage operation, longer life and mercury-free. There are two types of LED backlight, one is direct-lit mode and the other is edge-lit mode. Because of advantages such like reducing the thickness, weight and cost of the backlight module compared with direct-lit mode LED backlight, edge-lit mode LED backlight is more beneficial to popularization and application to LED backlight. Edge-lit mode LED backlight is becoming mainstream of backlight of LCD TV.This paper introduces the main principle of Liquid Crystal Display, basic principle and processing method of light guide plate, basic conception and driving method of LED, basic design method of FPGA at first, then makes a detail description of key research content of this paper-backlight design and driving control technology for edge-lit mode LED backlight LCD TV.This paper mainly studies the optical design, driving circuit design and control plan of edge-lit mode LED backlight. The emitting light from high side and low side solution plan given by this paper can meet the display standard of LCD TV. Driving Circuit with feedback regulation improves the efficiency of system, decreases the power consumption; driving control method base on FPGA can improve display quality to some extent. This paper discusses the mechanism of feedback circuit and solution plan of driving method aiming at edge-lit mode LED backlight in special, explores how to innovate the driving circuit and driving control plan.This design of edge-lit mode LED backlight can meet the demands of optical standard, electric standard and industrialization standard. It has broad market prospect.
