Nowadays, as the level of people’s material life gradually improved, we put forward higher requirements on LCD TV-"greener, more energy-efficient, brighter, thinner". In order to satisfy the LCD TV’ demand for reducing power consumption and improving the LCD contrast, LED regional dynamic backlight control technology(local_dimming control technology)has become a kind of trend of development of liquid crystal television field of research and application. Especially using light-side dynamic backlight control technology is widely used because it can reduce the thickness of backlight module.Firstly, this article introduces the LED dynamic backlight control in the field of liquid crystal s’background, and the current situation of development at home and abroad, this topic’s research significance, the source of topic and the chapter of this paper. And then in the second chapter introduces the technical principle of regional dynamic backlight control, the kinds of classifications of dynamic backlight control and the advantages and disadvantages, etc., and finally this paper’s idea is determined-the side of the white LED light of the regional dynamic backlight control, this control method determines the brightness of backlight and compensation of brightness, respectively used in backlight controlling the SOC chip of LED backlight unit and brightening the compensation the data of LCD panel. This paper’s prominent is in the third chapter and fourth chapter:to research the algorithm of dynamic backlight control, and realize the dynamic backlight control module’s hardware architecture based on the improved algorithm.The flexibility of dynamic backlight control algorithm is the key to backlight driving signal to determine whether algorithm has a good adaptability, therefore the dynamic backlight’s brightness extraction algorithm is a improvement part of the designation. In the third chapter, this paper first introduces and compares kinds of backlight driving signal decision algorithms, including the maximum algorithm, average algorithm and the square root algorithm, etc., and then put forward the designation idea of backlight driver signal algorithm based on dark scene image backlight enhanced backlight driving algorithm in this paper, this algorithm has a advantage in that it can reduce the complexity of the algorithm operation, and reduce the power consumption and increase the contrast at the same time, in order to satisfy the market demand for LCD TV. Besides introducing the dynamic backlight brightness extraction algorithm, the chapter also analysis the algorithm of RGB image converted into gray image part and backlight image simulation part.The fourth chapter in this paper is on the basis of the improved dynamic backlight control algorithm, this chapter design the hardware architecture of the entire dynamic backlight control and each module of the whole system respectively, mainly includes the interface module, backlight module, backlight brightness of the extracted image simulation module and a backlight compensation module-the four module’s hardware designation, at the same time using Verilog HDL hardware programming language and FPGA realize the hardware description and function of simulation and verification results show that each module design of circuit simulation results meet expectations, and meet the design of the initial requirements.The backlight system designed in this paper is appropriately modified and it can be applicative in the field of the liquid crystal TV, and has a broad market prospects.
