Research On Society-serving Of The Academic Libraries In Changsha-zhuzhou-xiangtan Cities

It is requirement for the development of era and society to provide society-serving in the academic libraries. When the academic libraries provide good services for teaching and science research, they should be open to other fields in society. It is benefit to sharing information resource, meeting the development requirement of social culture and economy, improving people thought, and promoting the construction of democratic and harmonious society. Providing society-serving in the academic libraries is the requirement for their development. It can increase the utilization rate of literature, and enhance the consciousness of society-serving, and take full advantage of information resource, promote the development of teaching and science research.Based on the analysis of society-serving in the academic libraries, the concept of society-serving in the academic libraries is represented. Its necessity and importantance are discussed. Its current situations and existing questions are analyzed. Taking the academic libraries in Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan cities for example, some measures are propounded, such as creating regional study center, constructing lifetime study system, integrating regional human resource, building resource archives, improving the ability of information services by building library alliance, providing information services for society by actively participating in information market.
