As Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology becomes more and more widespread in recent years, GPON element management systems become especially important to GPON deployment. This thesis describes the design and implementation of modules of GPON element management system.Firstly the thesis introduces the history of GPON communication technology and key technologies used in system implementation. GPON element management system consists of three parts, Element Management System (EMS) core, North Bound Interface (NBI) mediator and NBI adapter. This thesis analyzes all the three parts' software architectures separately. In the thesis, some important components in EMS core module are described. And thesis also describes the architecture of GUI module, NBI mediator, NBI agent module and Configuration Management (CM) agent module in NBI adapter.I have mainly finished the following work,1. The design and implementation of modules. I co-design and co-implement the algorithm and interfaces of fault management module in NBI mediator, and the configuration management module in NBI adaptor.2. The testing of a module. Interface testing on command line module, Transaction Language-1 (TL1), in NBI adaptor is finished and described detailedly in the thesis.
