This paper studies the architecture of the distributed core routers and link aggregation, designs a link aggregation scheme of the distributed high-end core routers, implements various software modules in link aggregation scheme and verifies the feasibility and correctness of the proposed scheme on H3C SR8800, a distributed high-end core router.The platforms of our work are embedded system PowerPC and VxWorks. On the basis of embedded system, the overall architecture of the distributed high-end core routers from the bottom hardware platform to the top application is analyzed. This paper also studies communications between main board and sub boards and the scheming of tasks when implementing link aggregation in the distributed high-end core routers. Link aggregation is implemented from three aspects:creation of aggregation set, deletion of aggregation set and modification of members of aggregation set. According to the three aspects, underlying driver provides the corresponding interface functions. Also, this paper carries out the detailed research on the functionalities and implementations of the three functions. Finally, Ethernet and POS link aggregations are implemented in the distributed high-end core routers.This paper verifies the experimented results from two aspects:load-sharing and link redundancy backup. The measured data show that the proposed scheme has a higher reliability and a certain practical value.
