With the rapid development of computer network and communication technology, the network carrying voice, data, images and other business applications become more and more abundant and people are higher their requirement on the network bandwidth and quality of service. In order to improve the reliability and stability of the network, increase the network bandwidth economically and conveniently, the link aggregation technology emerge as the times require. The link aggregation(short for Ethernet Link Aggregation), which adopted the multiple physical links tied together to form a logical link, so as to achieve the purpose of increasing the link bandwidth. The internal implementation of the link aggregation’s data transmission and the details are transparent to the upper business. People can configuration the link aggregation according to their variety of network services requirement. At the same time, tying the physical link together can be dynamically backup each other. If one physical link failure, the system can calculate the transmission port in the rest of the link according to the load sharing strategy, which can effectively improve the reliability of the link.In this thesis, based on IEEE Standard 802.1AX, link aggregation theoretical analysis, and the application and the actual needs of the project, the Comware software platform is used to study the multiple services router hardware and software system deeply. The link aggregation on router’s Ethernet switching board card is designed and realized. According to the hierarchical and modular design of software engineering for the link aggregation, the overall design of the link aggregation and detailed design of the module are finished, and the detailed design ideas and key data structure design of each module are given, which include the platform software for Ethernet switching board card configuration commands, task management, sending and receiving messages. The link aggregation module is programmed, which include driving achievement in creating, modifying and deleting aggregation group, etc.The detailed testing and verification are carried out on the multiple services router in the company. The measured data show that the link aggregation module can meet the design requirements, which increase the link bandwidth effectively, improve the flexibility, redundancy, reliability and stability of the transmission link.
