Digital multimedia information publication system which is widely used in international activities, government information bulletin, social organizations, and public infrastructures is one of the most important information systems involved in people's life. Digital multimedia information publication system adopts multimedia data including digital pictures, video, audio etc as well as common data type like text and number as its publication information, and both of them can deeply impress public and improve system interaction and social influence. Digital multimedia information publication system, with information diversity and vitality, remote publication unified management, and demanding customer subscription, is now becoming an important way of information constructions.This paper presents system monitoring and management approaches based on analyzing requirements and architecture of an actual digital multimedia information publication system. By researching digital video used in commercial advertisements, we address a method to supervise data of video released. A real-time software tool is designed to monitor and control all running-state parameters of digital multimedia information publication system. In addition, this paper gives architecture of a limited area information distribution system, which includes redundancy-enhanced backup transporting solution, buffer based bit rate smoothing solution, and exact time count solution. The major researches are as followings:1. Analysis of digital multimedia information publication system and system architecture. This paper firstly analyzes all system components' function, software & hardware architecture, standards and technologies involved, and then it introduces requirements of monitoring and management. 2. A new method based on watermarking technology designed to improve traditional steps of monitoring video data manually. As mentioned in the method, we study H.264 video encoding standard and watermarking technology. DEW watermarking algorithm is implemented based on open source JM10.1 project by comparing classical watermarking algorithms.3. Solutions used to keep the quality of TS over IP. As the transport medium, MPEG-2 transport stream (TS) is widely used in the circumstance of digital multi-media information publication system. For full use of transport channel and decoder's normal performance, it is very important to keep the stability of transport stream bitrates while TS is transporting over IP network. Solutions are used to solve problems out.4. Software design and implementation on monitoring running-state parameters of encoders and steaming media server system. A detailed-layer C/S architecture, which supports expansibility and demanding maintenance, is given in this paper. Technologies involved include UDP-based socket process communication, cross platform deployment, and multi language development.
