At present, to meet the demand of the market, the quality and grade of rapier loom need to be improved in China. It has become an urgent task to develop high-grade rapier loom control system and increase its intelligence and automation level.The project has developed a high-grade rapier loom control system based on CAN bus. The system has a distributed architecture with many processors. The system is divided into five control modules, including a host and four slaves, and they communicate through CAN field bus. The host is mainly used to display and get user inputs to achieve human-computer interaction function; the four slaves control their own parts. The five parts work together to complete the weaving task.The paper introduced:Overall design scheme of the system; Characteristics of CAN bus, the way it works, hardware and software design and implementation methods of CAN intelligent nodes; Hardware design of the host machine using S3C2440 as core CPU, implantation of Linux operating system and application software design of the host machine; Hardware design and signal function of the four slave modules using enhanced 51and CPLD as core CPU; And at last, by analyzing the structure of the loom warp tension control system, because it's difficult to build a model for it, the system used fuzzy control method to make up the deficiencies of traditional control methods on complex nonlinear system, and improve the control accuracy, so the warp tension can maintain dynamic stability.The project is supported by the Natural Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province, and developed a control system that goes with high-grade rapier loom. Experiments by a number of textile enterprises prove that the system performs good, and is helpful to increase the automation and intelligence level of looms in China.
