Research And Design Of Project-based Case Learning System

With the development of instructional theory, teaching models have transformed from the teacher-centered to the student-centered. E-learning is a teaching approach that is developed with science and technology, which nicely meets the demand of student-centered teaching. And the appearance of learning-by-doing teaching method gives a new train of thought for practice-based engineering subject education.The implementation of project management is a necessary stage, which helps improve management of engineering project. So there are lots of elements of project management in the engineering subjects. This paper puts forward a learning system by extracting the general characteristics of projects and restoring a real case into a project which is used for students to practice in terms the idea of learning-by-doing. The feasibility of projectizing engineering cases is achieved by preliminarily constructing and basically testing the study system. The development of this learning system is developed by adopting LAMP (Linux+Apache+MySQL+PHP) that is popularly used in open source community and applying Ubuntu Linux as operating system, Apache as Web server and MySQL as database. We use PHP language to control the whole study process which includes the connection and access of database and the manipulation of web browser. After simple presentation to a few education theories, we introduce some technology which will be used in our system and give the basic reasons why correspondent technology is used to develop the system. Then we have a simple analysis of our system and have a detailed explanation of some most important models in the system. Finally we illustrate the experience of the two main users—students and teachers.In the end of this paper, we make a conclusion of the whole work, and give our views on the future development of the system.
