IC (Integrated Circuit) is the basis of the modern information industry. The security flaw or back door of IC is directly related to the entire information system security. Therefore, the research of IC security is an important future direction for information security research, which has great practical significance in study of security flaws or vulnerabilities of chips. Taking the research on National"863"Project (2009AA01Z434) as background, this thesis studies on the security of information systems from the perspective of IC chips, and makes research on security flaw of chips presently widely used in the digital device , which mainly focuses on the mechanism of security flaws in control logic-based chips and built-in code-based chips. Furthermore, a security flaw simulation platform of core chips is constructed, and simulation tests are also carried out.Major contributions and innovations endeavored in this thesis are as follows:1. By comparing the security flaw of chips with the software virus, the characteristics of the chip flaws are summed up from the perspective of information security .Based on the analysis of the design, manufacture, and production of IC, this thesis theoretically analyzes the feasibility of attacks through security flaws of IC, and the Hardware Threat Model is proposed.2. According to the architecture of modern electronic system and the existence forms of security flaws of chips, the core chips could be divided into two categories: the control logic-based chips and the built-in code-based chips. The mechanism of security flaws in the former is introduced based on the combination and sequential logic. As far as the latter is concerned, starting with the flow of code execution, mechanism of security flaws in built-in code-based processors and firmware.3. Based on the thorough research on the physical characteristics, trigger and behavior of security flaws of the core chips, the key elements needed in the construction of security flaw simulation platform. The security flaw of core chips simulation platform based on PC architecture is implemented, and the related simulation tests are carried out .Experiments results have proved the tenability of the theory and the validity of the simulation platform.
