| As the environmental problems are increasingly serious, green computing becomes more and more important in the area of information technology. On the other hand, the global consum-ers urgently pursue the portable devices which are smaller, more abundant features and longer battery life.So power issues are becoming a technology hot spot in the information technolo-gy field, especially in the field of embedded devices. Reducing the power consumption could not only make important contributions to sustainable development, but also coulud greatly expand the application scope of the embedded system. In this paper we mainly study the power-save for embedded system with Wi-Fi.Wi-Fi as a wireless transmission technology with a flexible and convenient features has great application future, but the usage of Wi-Fi would consume a lot of power. The scope of Wi-Fi application is greatly restricted by the power consumption. In this paper we study the application of Wi-Fi in the low-power embedded systems.Base on the features of the hardware, including the low-power modes, the power comsuming in dif-ferent frequency and so on, we study the low-power potential of the hardware. We study software methords to reduce the power comsuming further, including dynamic power man-agerment, dynamic frequency, low power software design, protocol stack optimization and so on. Firstly, we study the power consuming and the effection to the system performance of the methord individually. And then we group two or more methords and record the power coumsing and performance of the system. Finally, we design a solution on embedded system with Wi-Fi which is kind of universal and can fit for the requirements of applications. The experiment's results show that those solutions are universal, steady and efficient. They can satisfy the practical application requirements. |
