| The Internet of Things (IoT) technology is considered as the third wave of the world's information industry after personal computer and the Internet. In the age of the Internet of Things, every object can be recognized because of its unique identification, and any object can connect with any other object at any time any place. The form of communication will become from human-to-human to human-to-human, human-to-machine and machine-to-machine. We are entering a brand new communication era.The biggest breakthrough of the Internet of Things is putting the physical world and information world together, so the environment information collection and transmission is very important for the Internet of Things. In the Internet of Things, wireless sensor network (WSN) takes the responsibility of collecting and transmitting the environment information, we can say that WSN is the "last mile" of the Internet of Things. The Internet of Things is a kind of ubiquitous network (UN), this is to say that any object can access the network at any time any place. But the traditional architecture of WSN which depends on the Sink node transmits the collected environment information via wired IP line can not satisfy this need. So taking the cellular network (CN) which is ubiquitous as the channel to transmit the collected environment information by WSN is reasonable, actually this solution has been one of the common viewpoints already about the development of the Internet of Things. Therefore, convergence between cellular network and WSN becomes one of the most important issues of the Internet of Things.The Internet of Things is an application driven technology, so the solution of convergence between cellular network and WSN is basically application related. After researching many technology drafts which are from some standard institutes like ETSI and some existed pilot solutions, we have summarized some necessary and general functions about the convergence between cellular network and WSN which are not application related, like terminal register, terminal permission management, connection management, terminal fault management, terminal state management and inspection, flow control, terminal sleep and active, etc. Then we try to give our solution about these general functions and simulate them on the software platform. This paper hopes to give a considerable and general function module about the convergence between cellular network and WSN, sharing general function module can speed up the develop process, lower the develop difficulty and cost. This paper is also an exploration of the Internet of Things'standardization. |
