With the rapid development of semiconductor emitting diode (LED) industry, Higher requirements on the testing of LED characteristic parameters have been put forward. For the purpose of establishing a teaching platform of LED characteristic parameters, the paper proposed a new test program on the basis of analyzing the existing test method and solution, also combined with the virtual instrument technology and principle of data acquisition. This program not only can improve the accuracy, reliability of equipment and reduce system costs, but also can complete LED characteristic parameters test and automatic sorting.The paper analyses the significance and domestic and foreign situation of LED characteristic parameter tests. It summarizes the test problem of LED characteristic parameters It also introduces the development of virtual instrument technology. On the basis of deeply study on the measurement principles and standard of LED photometric parameters, radiometric parameters and colorimetric parameter, the paper puts forward the methods, steps and key problems of the test.Using grating spectroscope and acquisition card, according to the design requirements and methods of virtual instrument software, Hardware and software of LED characteristic parameters testing system were designed. With LabVIEW software platform, computer and application hardware were combined, and the functions of all modules were realized. Through computer processing, sorting signals were given and the function of automatic sorting was achieved. Collection, calculation and analysis, display and data storage of LED characteristic parameters were obtained.Finally, using the developed system to test the tested samples, Spectral energy distribution curve was generated, and the data results of a series of LED colorimetric, optics and electricity parameter were created. The results show that the testing system can accomplish LED parameters test and achieve the predetermined testing objectives.
