In January 2009,China Unicom Corporation won the WCDMA wireless network license issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. As a subsidiary of China Unicom,Qingdao Unicom established its WCDMA network based on the technique specification of WCDMA R6 version according to the requirement of the head office at the very beginning.The WCDMA wireless network downlink and uplink data throughput is improved by mean of HSPA and HSPA+ high-speed data services,while,the introduction of HSPA and HSPA+ also makes the optimization design of the WCDMA/HSPA-HSPA wireless network system different from that of the traditional GSM network and other early versions of WCDMA networks.Since WCDMA wireless mobile communication network system is a dynamic system over the time and the business development, the operator have to continuously optimize the system in order to achieve the optimal allocation of system resources,as well as the WCDMA wireless mobile communication network can operate under the best resources and performance condition.Only through this way, the greatest degree of satisfaction for users can be provided within a reasonable cost range.Based on the engineering practice of the Qingdao Unicom WCDMA radio network optimization,this paper mainly completed three major optimization aspects.Firstly, the network optimization is the implemented for Qingdao Unicom WCDMA system before the establishment of base stations,and the simulation software mainly include Huawei GENEX, Ericsson TCPU8 and Forsk Atoll. Secondly, based on the results of multi-software electronic simulation, the field testing is performed by means of GENEX Probe road test software and TEMS Investigator Nemo Outdoor road test software according to related requirements. The objective of this step is to obtain the network operation characteristics through field testing, and find possible problems as well as solve these problems during the testing process.Finally, the optimization is performed with the support of the intelligent expert system software.The measured parameters,i.e., operation data, are input into the GENEX software, and the software intelligent optimization is realized with the cooperation of the GENEX software and the intelligent expert system software.Two experiences are obtained in the optimization process of Qingdao Unicom WCDMA wireless mobile communication network:1.Attention should be paid for the wireless environment optimization during the whole wireless network optimization process. The optimization of wireless environment, i.e.,physical optimization,is the foundation of all other optimization processes for wireless networks.2.The best solutions should be found with the consideration of all the mutual constraint elements which compose of the whole system.
