Based on massive references, the development of the Power Line Carrier (PLC) and the shearer's monitoring techniques are discussed. At present, the data is transmitted by Communication Bus (CB) between most shearer's monitoring communication systems and the supervision center on the ground, such as CAN CB and Profibus CB. Broad coverage area, reliable connection and no need for wiring are the obvious advantages of the power line. So the shearer's monitoring communication system based on PLC has attracted more and more attention. The application of the PLC in the new shearer's online monitoring system has tremendous significance.DSP devices are used as the hardware platform to complete the key task, and the OFDM software algorithm is used to process signals in this system. This paper emphasizes on:(1)the construction of the DSP minimum system; (2)the hardware circuit design and DSP software flow chart of the PLC system; (3) the design of communication circuit among the modules and driving program; (4)the algorithmic simulation of the OFDM communication system. The DSP board transmits the collected data to the receiver through the power line. And the receiver continues to transmit the data to the supervisory computer through the serial port. Meanwhile, the software interface in PC displays the current running conditions. It is convenient for the operator to adjust the running parameter timely and send control command to ensure optimum state.The design of shearer's monitoring communication system based on the PLC supervises to the traditional systems. So the data transmission is more credible and faster.
