| The assessment tools utilized in this research are two questionnaires, the SCL-90 and Social Support Rating Scale, both of which have validity and reliability.This research employs random sampling method and takes 168 impoverished undergraduates and 176 non-impoverished undergraduates among four grade of A undergraduates of Jilin city . There were 344 valid copies of scales. It examined mental health levels, social support, and the relationship between them of both impoverished undergraduates and non-impoverished undergraduates. The data were dealt with by Statistics software, SPSS 11.5.Our study reveals that:1.The mental health level of impoverished undergraduates is obviously lower than that of non-impoverished undergraduates, esp. in the somatization, phobia, relationships and anxiety.2. The social support of impoverished undergraduates is lower than non-impoverished undergraduates, esp. in friend support, family support, classmate support and consolation and concern. The mental health level and social support of impoverished undergraduates are significantly minus-correlated. The social support condition influences the mental health of impoverished undergraduates to a great extent.3. The mental health level and social support of impoverished undergraduates in city is lower than impoverished undergraduates in country Roads , The mental health level and social support of man impoverished undergraduates is lower than woman impoverished undergraduates.4. Both mental support and material support have active effect on the mental health of impoverished undergraduates, and there is little notable difference between the effects of the two strategies. |
