A Study Of The Chronicles

Zhang Hua(232-300AC), styled himself Mao Xian, was a native of Fang Chen county in Fan Yang where is in the Guan county of Hebei Province now.In Western Jin Dynasty, Zhang was the leader in the field of literary.On the basis of extensive collection of historical materials related to the subject,this chronology catalog strives to reach the following levels of study. First,to make thorough research on the subject’s life,the official career and the times of his literary works. As a catalog standing on the shoulders of our predecessors,this chronicle will make no comments or supplements in case of painting the lily. What remain unsolved for in the essay awaits the upcoming successors and are clearly labeled.Second,hopefully to work as the fundamental material for some related researches.There are four parts in this chronicle : Part One is the introduction and expounds the subject’s background. Zhang is the commoners.The analysis of Liu Fang and Lu Qin played an important role in his official career to research his career.From the view of well learned and informed,politics,literature to locate Zhang’s position in the field of literary in Western Jin Dynasty.In Western Jin Dynasty, Zhang was the leader in the field of literary, with his "elegant" poetic style,his "fluxuriant" poetic concept, and his literary theory that emotions outvalue grace, he was the key figure in pushing poetry’s development from Han Wei poetry to West Jin poetry. His literary ideas had such an effect that the famous poetic theory that “beauty of poems comes from emotion”thereby was put forward by Lu Ji( a Wei, Jin Dynasties poet) in his work of Prose. As he’d like to meet people of like mind and give guidance and help to young people,a circle of quite a lot scholars with him as the center was potentially formed by then.Part Two is the guide and illustrates the formatting and principles of this chronicle.Part Three is the main body and lays out the host’ life story, official career and the times of literary works year after year.Part Four is the appendix and lists the scholars’ existing poem and prose who is connected with Zhang Hua.
