The Chronicle Of Ou Daren

Ou Daren(1516-1595),whose stylename is Zhenbo,with a byname of Lunshan,was born in state of Chencun,Shunde,Guangdong.He was famous for his poems as a teenager,but he failed in the imperial examinations.for eight times.Until the age of 47,he came to Beijing to take the exam as a contributor,ranking first.In the following years,he had experienced the position of Xundao of Yangzhou,Xuezheng of Guangzhou,Teacher of Guozijian,Judge of Dalisi,and in the ninth year of Wanli,he was given the position of Manager of GongbuTuntian of NanJing,and transferred to Yu Henglang in the next year.He died at the age of eighty.The teacher of Ou Daren is HuangZuo whose byname is Taiquan.Ou Daren has a gentle personality and enjoys socializing.He has been associated with the latter seven Masters and celebrities of the same period.He revived the elegance of Nanyuan,known as the Latter Five Masters of Nanyuan with Li Minbiao and Liang Youyu etc,and he was also listed as one of the Five Masters of Lingnan by Wang Shizhen,the leader of the Latter Seven Masters.He wrote down 79 volumes of poems and anthologies.Although the official position of OuDaren is not obvious,his whole life can be summarized as "stable".In the middle and late period of Jiajing,YanSong controlled the government,and the latter seven Masters was crushed hardly.In the years between OuDaren's official career in the forty-second year of Jiajing and his retirement in the twelvth year of Wanli,this period of time until the death of Zhang Juzheng in the 10 th year of Wanli is a period of political clarity and stability after the fall of Yan Song group.Then as for the place of official position,in addition to three years of studying in Guangzhou,Henan Province,the place of official position is respectively Beijing,Nanjing and Yangzhou,which are rich in material and cultural life and the place where scholars gather.Beijing and Nanjing are the capital and capital.Yangzhou,as a cultural resort since ancient times,has a prosperous economy and is the place where scholars and officials from north to South have to pass.Ou is not busy with his official duties as a teacher or a official of Dalisi,etc.This unique advantage gives him a lot of time to make friends and write poems.Of the nearly 4000 poems he wrote in his life,except for the eight volumes of poems before he went to Beijing,most of them are works after he became an official.He has extensive and close contacts with Lingnan literati circle,Wu Chinese literati circle and Jinling literati circle.Based on a collection and carding of abundant historical materials,my thesis will focus on Ou Daren's lifelong story by means of yearly compiling.It will edit his major works,official activities and communications with celebrities at the time in accordance with the year.Some textual criticism will be done if necessary.
