With the establishment of the Physical-Psychological-Social medical mode, the concept of health has gradually changed from a mere absence of disease to a wide range of health conditions including physical, mental, and social well-being. N. Buchman, a former Soviet scholar, found that there is an intermediate stage between health and disease, which does not belong to either status. Wang Yuxue, a C hinese scholar, defined it as "SUB-HEALTH".A predictive survey by WHO shows that there is 75 % sub-health population around the world. 70% of the population, more than 9 billion people in our country are in the status of sub-health. Intellectuals have a high-risk of sub-health in C hina, and their average life expectancy is 10 years shorter than the national average life expectancy. So far, there had not been as yet any sub-health data for adult college staff- a special group of intellectuals. The national plan for medium and long-term educational reform and development(2010-2020) came up with the idea of “greatly developing non-degree continuing education” and “continuing the steady development of degree-education”. Adult colleges are important forces to develop continuing education, however their social statuses and conditions cannot be compared with that of the normal colleges. All staff members are faced with problems of professional identity, primitive conditions, lack of students and great pressure from teaching, research and other aspects. The research on job burnout of teachers in adult colleges shows that burnout is one of the important causes of symptoms of sub-health.In order to bring attention to health conditions of adult college teachers themselves, their families and the whole society, and to provide references for sub- health epidemiological study, this research, for the first time, uses documentary research, investigation, expert consultation and statistical analysis of the adult college teachers’ sub-health issues in Beijing to grasp the main factors of health and find strategies for rectifying the problems.Specific research content and results are as follows:1. Sub-health theory and research status. Through documentary research, find prior research on the present status and progress of sub-health, including concepts of sub- health, epidemiological characteristics, symptoms, diagnoses, treatments and prevention measures. Analyze the existing problems, build a theoretical foundation and demonstrate the feasibility of this study.2. Beijing adult college staff sub-health research methods. Study sub-health evaluation tools and methods at home and abroad. Make a sub-health evaluation chart and test the reliability and test its validity according to the characteristics studied, employing the expert consultation method. Establish diagnostic criteria which go with the sub-health distribution characteristics. Gather relevant information for the survey, make survey questionnaires, and organize the implementation of the surveys.3. Epidemiology of Beijing adult college staff sub-health status quo. The sub- health rate of adult college staff in Beijing is 69.9% and these are mainly young and middle aged teachers and administrative staff. The physical symptoms of subhealth are mainly unsatisfactory condition of hair and skin, fatigue, problems with throat and eyes, waist acid and back pain(6 items); psychological symptoms of sub- health mainly include a decline in memory, energy insufficiency, anxiety and bad temper, and inability to concentrate( 4 items); socially adapted sub-health symptoms mainly include less communication with friends, difficulties in work, and disinclination to seek help( 3 items).4. Analysis of sub-health factors of Beijing adult college staff. Using statistical regression analysis to analyze the sub- health factors, among which gender, sex, job, marriage, self-evaluation on health, drinking, degree of sedentariness, length of time using the computer, degree of fierce competition in the workplace and whether the salary and bonus system is complete(10 items) are potentially problematic factors, while awareness of sub-health, sleeping time, weekly exercise time, intensity of exercise, free time and degree of satisfaction of life(6 items) are potentially ameliorative factors.5. Strategy of research o n sub- health of Beijing adult college staff. Two types of intervention strategies are developed. Group intervention strategies aim to strengthen the system to achieve both personal and school development at the same time, make available physical and mental care for staff, and form a good social environment for the faculty. Individual intervention strategies aim at forming good personal habits; dealing well with pressure and competition; developing interests in life, improving the quality of life; raising health awareness, and developing healthy behavior.6. Conclusion and discussion. Summarize the main results of this research with an emphasis on creativity; explain its shortcomings and develop plans for further research.
