| Purpose:With the buildup of Shanxi College Town, more than100,000college students in ten colleges have been settled in successively. At the initial stage of the construction, Shanxi College Town located in the remote district and most of the colleges are far away with their main campus. Moreover, the hardware environment is under construction, not to mention the cultural atmosphere. Whether the health condition and living quality of college students will be impacted in such a condition? MOS36-item Short Form Health Survey is a multipurpose, widely used short questionnaire with only36items. It is detailly divided into8scales: physical function, role-physical, body pain, general health, vitality, social function, role emotional and mental health, in order to assess the health-related quality of life. In this research, the college students in a medical university will be investigated to learn their health condition and its influence factors, thus, to provide a basis for the education policy and college planning, which suitable to the college students’physical and mental development.Methods:A total of830cases of a medical university in Shanxi college town were selected by cluster random sampling, with758cases of respondents(91.3%). General health evaluation was investigated and Chinese version of SF-36health survey was carried out. EpiData3.1software were used for data entry and SPSS13.0software was used for data processing. Statistical evaluation included T-test, variance, Kruscal-Walis test, factor analysis and correlation analysis.Result:1. In the SF-36performance test:SF-36showed acceptable Cronbach’s a coefficients of the eight scales and better split-half reliability and test-retest reliability. Factor analysis of the two main components of the Scale was basically the same as the original structure theory. Health status of college students were revealed clearly with SF-36health survey.2. Scores of health state of college students is lower than general level. The highest score for SF-36was in PE (89.45±15.02). and the lowest score was in RE (60.03±40.64). There was no significant differences in RP and VT between college students and general population (P> 0.05). However, the rest dimension had significant differences (P<0.05). The scores of GH was higher than general population, but the scores of PF、BP、SF、RE and MH were lower.3. From the factor analysis of college students’health condition, we could found out that there are statistical significance in factors including gender, Liberal arts or Science, origin of students, census register and so on. Overall the health condition of female, Science, and urban students are better than those of male, Liberal arts and rural ones.Conclusion:1. Chinese version of SF-36health survey for college students in Shanxi college town has advantages of acceptable reliability and validity2. Much attention should be paid to the health condition of college students, especially their mental health condition by the colleges. Psychological counseling should be enforced in junior grade students. The health condition of male students, students form rural areas and in Liberal arts majors should be viewed and traced dynamically. And intervention measures should be taken to improve the college students’ health condition according to the SF-36health survey. |
