Backgroud:Western medicine regard chronic urticaria as allergic disease, but the mechanism is complicated and still not entirely clear. Chronic urticaria can bring unbearable suffering due to pruritus and wheals, repeatedly occurance in long disease duration brings patients in trouble, single drug usage can’t meet the requirements of relieving the suffering. Recently western medicine mainly depends on antihistamine drug in order to alliviate syndromes, but recurrance after withdrawl, drug dependence in long-time process, tolerance and toxic side effects with continuing usage is obvious. Chinese herbal medicine has the advantage of alliviating the illness, maintaining the condition in a long time and improving quality of life with the disease, but at the same time, recurrance after withdrawl, long-time process, toxic side effects after long-time usage, without recognition and receptance due to the incomplete mechanism are the disadvantage. Acupuncture and moxibustion combined with blood-letting puncture is one of the characteristic theraputic methods of Traditional Chinese Medicine, more advantages than drugs due to safety and efficacy, less side-effects, wide-range, and deep level of function, but mechanism of relieving pruritus with acupuncture and moxibustion method isn’t explicit. Objective:Through clinical research of acupuncture and moxibustion combined with blood-letting puncture therapy, observing wheather the therapy can improve clinical symptom, physical sign and quality of life significantly and to evaluate clinical efficacy, following up effctive samples for recurrence rate, in order to provide an effective and popular method for clinical treatment.Treatment prescription:18 CSU samples which conformed to the inclusion criteria, all bilateral point selection; Acupoints for acupuncture:Quchi,Hegu, Zhongwan, Tianshu, Xuehai, Zusanli, Sanyinjiao, Taichong; Acupoints for ginger-partition moxibustion:Shenque or Shenshu, an acupoint once, used interchangeably; Acupoints for blood-letting puncture: Dazhui, Quchi, Weizhong or Feishu, Geshu, Xinshu, Pishu, a group once, used interchangeably. Three times a week, continuing for 6 weeks.18 times in total. Recording urticaria activity score and assay of dermatology life quality index before the treatment, at the time of 2 weeks,4 weeks,6 weeks, evaluating overall outcome by symptom score reducing index, observing clinical efficacy of acupuncture and moxibustion combined with blood-letting puncture therapy intervention with CSU.Results:18 samples after 6 weeks treatment, including 3 cases recovery,10 cases excellent,3 cases making progress,2 cases invalid, and the total effective rate is 72.22%. Following up effctive samples when 3 months after treatment,1 case relapsed, recurrence rate is 7.69%. Pruritus score, wheal number score, urticaria activity score and assay of dermatology life quality index score before and after treatment decreased in different degrees, after statistical test, the difference was significant, P=0.000(P<0.05). Sex has no relationship with urticaria activity score and assay of dermatology life quality index score before and after treatment, after statistical test, difference with no statistical significance (P>0.05).Conclusion:Acupuncture and moxibustion combined with blood-letting puncture therapy can improve clinical symptom, physical sign and quality of life significantly, it has the characteristic of good curative effectiveness, low rate of reccurance and no side-effect, thus as an effective method for chronic spontanious urticaria, and worthwhile for promotion and application.
