With the coming of 21st century, modern high-tech and information technologies are generally used from smart building to smart community and personal home. The remote control of building automation is a trend in the future, so the key step in the information revolution is to realize the network-home and to improve the quality of our life. As the core of smart community system, smart home can realize home automation through its core device--the smart home controller. The controller is the heart of smart home system, it can collect the system information, input the information, process logic, output information, linkage control, and so on. This subject is to research on the monitor system of network smart home and design a sample of smart home controller. The smart home controller includes two modules, one is the main control module, the other is the talk and record module. The main control module embeded a network chip is distributed an IP address through the TCP/IP embeded programming. Then the smart home controller can be connected the Internet through the server placed in the community management centre, and then it is possible to realize a network-home. Furthermore, the main control module processes data input or output, controls the home appliance intelligently with relay, such as switching the alert lamp and door lamp. The talk and record module realizes the visual talk, home record and information display. The two modules communicate to each other through their serial ports. The monitor system of network smart home based on ethernet has the advantages of low cost and high stability. It will be used widely in community information transmitting in the future.
