General power supply for the electromagnet usually use the linear stabilized current supply. But it is too large and inefficient because the linear modulating tube must work in the linearity area. In another word, there must be a voltage drop on the modulating tube for 4 volt. The power waste will be very large if the current is great. And it must be multi-tube parallel connection for the very power waste. That brings many difficulties in heat dissipation and installation. Considering shortcomings of the general power supply for the electromagnet, such as large size, low efficiency, high noise, inconvenience of diversion, and low price performance ratio, it will be a great progress if we use the new type power supply which use the newest power electronic devices(IGBT or IPM) , technology of switching power supply, and technology of the SCR diversion under zero current. With rapid developing of the power electronic technology, the volume of the completely controllable power electronics devices(which can be turned on and turned off) change bigger and bigger(IGBT and IPM have achieved the commercial applying level of 1200 volt and 600 Ampere).
