The world economy today is fast transforming from material-based toinformation-based. Informationization of the society has become themainstream of global economic development. Valuable resources ininformation has been recognized. The contribution of information technologyto national economy is increasing, and the IT industry has an ever larger shareof the economy. The informationization of agriculture is a very important partof the IT industry. Leading the agricultural science and technology revolution,the informationization of agriculture is especially important to the"sustainable development strategy"and the "science and education for astronger state". The important role played by science and technology in theagricultural modernization has resulted in increasing investment inagricultural science research from the government.With the fast development of the agricultural informationization, fodderformula software has become popular in the industry. The formula technologyhas developed from simple algebra to the planning techniques today. Someplanning methodology in operational research has been used in animalnutrition and fodder formula. As an application technology, formulatechnology needs to be constantly improved and developed. It should reflectthe new development of animal nutrition science and the development ofcomputer software and hardware. It's the only way to meet the need ofproduction and match the development of technology.Computer aided fodder formula design has solved the ration of multiplematerial, meet the needs of multiple nutrition requirement, and optimizefodder formula with lowest cost. It can best realize the potential productivityof the stock and domestic birds. It can increase the fodder transformation ratio.It can also increase production while lower cost. With its speed and precision,computer can help design more reasonable fodder formula than manual work.Under such background, our lab has taken the state 863 project: "Theintegrated development platform for intelligent agricultural informationsystem."The optimization system of animal fodder formula is a sub-project.There had been several versions of formula system in the past few years.Based on those systems, the fodder formulas system in this paper has addedexpert help function. It has improved the planning algorithm based on thespecial features of fodder formula. In the original planning algorithm models,the new decision variables are derived from the decision variable minus theminimum value of the variable, and then the new decision will produce newplanning algorithm models. The new model has less constraints than the oldone in that the decision variable is more than or equal to the minimum value.As a result, when the computer is calculating the new formula model, it'smuch easier than the old one. This paper first describes the system design and analyzes the system. Thesystem has the following functions and features: 1. customized service; 2.formula editing; 3. planning tool service; 4. multiple formula optimization; 5.typical fodder formula; 6. user feedback; 7. historical formula distillation; 8.nutritional components analysis; 9. expert help tool. The paper analyzes the system based on its major activities. There arefollowing activities included in the system: single formula optimization,multiple formula optimization, full prize historic prescription storage,advanced mixed prescription storage, user's information feedback. Typicalprescription analysis, user's feeding standard database choosing and editing,user's material database choosing and editing, expert's experience andknowledge help output. The paper uses graphics to describe the majoractivities of the system. The thesis introduces the main part of the prescription system which themain part includes how to make full prize feedstuff and condense feedstuff. Ituse class diagram and fashion digram to describe making full prize feedstuffand condense feedstuff. In addition, it analyzes the process of the history offull prize feedstuff's forming by active diagram. The thesis specifize to the structure of the table of the database in thesystem. It includes feeding-standard table, material table, material sort table,sort table and experts'reference information table. Making the full pricefeedstuff and condense feedstuff is the main part of the system. The data thatmaterial and feeding-standard used comes from the material table and thefeeding-standard table. The sort table record the kind of the material. In thematerial sort table, it record which kind that thematerial belongs to. Whichkind that the material belongs to is determined by experts. In the experts'reference information table, it storage the information that onefeeding-standard should choose which material and which programmingmethod. The user consult experts'experiencesand knowledges by gettingcontext information from the experts'reference information table. The thesis introduces four kind of programming method(linearprogramming, fuzzy linear programming, goal programming and improvedlinear programming).
