Workflow technology is oriented from OA and has been the core of mordern enterprise management technology such as ERP, CRM, Resouse Flow. A lot of people are engaged in researching workflow system and have reached a great deal of accomplichment. But it has not achieved what people desired in workflow system application field. Owing to the development of internet technology, more and more collaboration among enterprises happens. Web technology has been main character of the new generation of workflow system. In this paper, we study the problem of design and implementation of web-based workflow system. We build the web-based workflow system using Web Service and J2EE technology. Distributed stations of the system engine communicate by soap message, in this way we resolved the firewall problem in the process of managing between enterprises. Appliction of distributed task attemper eliminated the capability bottle-neck in centralized attemper. Local dababase stored current edition of part of process model and worklflow variables, which ensured dynamic modifying of process instances and rapid recovering as system being defeated. In this paper we detailedly demonstrated and designed the distributed running environment,distributed engine,running cortrol mechanism of workflow instances,invoking application and subprocess,distibuting task,user-previllege control,system log and abnormity management of Web-based workflow system. We designed workflow model which served as the basis of distributed engines of web-based workflow with task-based and Object-Oriented method. In the modeling process, the enterprise process struture is described with task-based method, and the enterprise resources are encapsuled by Object Oriented method here. Task-based and Object-Oriented modeling method is briefly demonstrated and designed in this paper.
