Mobile Media And The Reconstructing Of Media Ecology

Media ecology studies is a kind of compositive approaches to themedia research which has assimilated the fruit and methods of communication studies, biology studies and ecology studies. Differing from the traditional singe perspective on one or two elements to investigate the media, such as the media organs, the audiences, the texts, the market or technologies, media ecology studies focus on investigating the diachronic, circular and interactive relations of correlative elements in media system by putting them in the media ecology system, such as forest, soil, water and air in ecology.This dissertation is in order to explore mobile media and its impacts on media ecology in terms of the theories of media ecology studies. Mobile media is a kind of popular and special mass media developing in recent years, which has become a new part of media ecology. This dissertation not only analyses the elements and structures of mobile media but illustrates its communicating ways. Being an indispensable part of media ecology, mobile media is not an independent and spontaneous phenomenon, which results from many factors and their functions of ecology system, such as society, culture, economy, science and technology. This dissertation argues that the emergence of mobile media is the result of the interaction of the whole media ecology and it is bound to cause the imbalance of the original media ecology, lead to other elements to change and result in the reconstructing media ecology.
