Research On The Transformation Between WSP And HTTP Based On The Message Type

The development of the wireless communication technology and mobile device provides people with unlimited access capability to Internet. It is the increasing demand for people to access Internet anytime and anywhere. WAP becomes an important Internet access way nowadays. However, WAP mobile device can't access Internet directly due to the problem of the expression and identification between WAP protocol stack and TCP/IP protocol stack. This problem must be resolved promptly so to expand WAP applications.This paper studies the transformation problem between WSP in WAP protocol stack and HTTP in TCP/IP protocol stack. Based on the detailed analysis including the characteristics of WSP and HTTP (such as message content, message format, message coding mode, functions and communication mode), we investigated the coding/decoding transform process in which we shed more light on the message type's mapping transform and the message header's mapping transform.We concentrated the WSP/HTTP transform process that must be realzied in the gateway. In the process, the express of the communicating information, controlling information, and header information is extensively studied. We also analysed the special information processing for WAP mobile device. Then we illustrate the protocol transformation method based on the message type as follows:1. Determination of the protocol transformation relation between WAP message type and the HTTP message's method. The consistency between the message type and the message's method shows that the two messages have the same function. The sender can send its real intent to the receiver.2. A message header or capability parameter can have a different meaning in different messages, so the transformation must be considered with their types or methods in order to ensure the consistency of the expressions.At the last chapter, the author discussed the implementation of protocol transform in the gateway, gave a transforming model and relative data framework, pointed out the problems need to be resolved as well as the future research directions.
