Development And Publishing Of Chinese Library And Information Science Journals

As one of the most important medium and platform for library and information science communication, library and information science journals play a vital role in leading and promoting the library and information science research in a country. In response to the requirement of international academic communication and severe international market competition for library and information science journals after China's entrance into the WTO, the development of Chinese library and information science journals attracts the wide attention of scientists, journal editors and administrators.With the results of a questionnaire, in situ investigation, observation and overview with experts, a large number of materials have been collected. And main problems existing in Chinese library and information science journals are analyzed with quantitative and qualitative methods.The publishing system of library and information science journals can also be considered as a communication system. With the theory of communication, the dissertation makes a microcosmic analysis on the problems of library and information science journals in five Ws (who. says what, by which channel, to whom and with what effects).Management plays an important role in the development of Chinese library and information science journals, but management (of an academic journal in China) has not been pure commercial behaviors so far. By analyzing the ways of journal management in library and information sciences, a macroscopic view is given on the problems in this field.Synthesizing the macro- and microcosmic studying on the problems existing in Chinese library and information science journals, the dissertation proposes several suggestions on the development of Chinese library and information science journals.13 diagrams and 7 tables are included.
