With the increasing number of terrestrial satellite and cable channels made available, the user has a wide range of programs to select from. Selection is time consuming and it is often the case that interesting programs go unnoticed.Digital TV suppliers have recognized this problem of information overload and addressed this issue by providing their users with Electronic Program Guide (EPG) services. These current generation of EPGs go some way in assisting users by offering online searching through program listings and schedules by genre, title or date.However, the user is still left with the burden of navigating through pages of program schedules with the hope of finding something interesting to watch. As a solution to this problem we proposed an intelligent EPG that continuously gathers TV program data from an online TV guide web site, collects user's interest profile. According the collected user profile and user's TV preferences, the EPG try to determine which upcoming programs may be of interest to the user.The proposed EPG sets up Profile database for user by collecting program information viewed by the user. User's behaviors interacting to programs are monitored, and the user's profile data is automatically updated accordingly. Based on the updated user's profile data, EPG recommends user's favorite genre and channel, so user can decide easily whether or not a program being or to be broadcast is his/her interested program.To achieve a better performance of recommendation, the EPG program data are preprocessed before recommended.In our EPG, we adopted a multi-engine and multi-layer method.
