Programmable Multimedia DSP, which has enormous processing ability, has been applied for kinds of information processing. Video and image arithmetic with optimizing technique based multimedia DSP are developed in this paper. We research and design JPEG image decoder and MPEG-1 video sequence decoder which are based on Multimedia DSP MD-32. We also research H.264 video decode standard.A new DCT/IDCT arithmetic based Multimedia DSP MD32 proposed by this paper are applied in IDCT transform of JPEG image decoder. We also optimize Huffman decode and inverse quantize arithmetic. The program flow are also given in this paper. The optimizing arithmetic proposed by this paper are more effective and use less resource comparing to other arithmetic through emulator of MD-32.We research and design MPEG-1 digital video decoder based on MD-32. Different technologies of move compensating of JPEG image decode and model of MPEG-1 video decoder are analyzed. The decoding flow of the decoder of MPEG-1 and modules of decoder are proposed in this paper. MPEG-1 video decoder is designed and optimized by assemble language of MD-32 . The decoder can decode in time when the MD-32. So the decoder is valuable.The H.264 Baseline decoder based multimedia DSP is researched. The integer transform and move compensating with high precision of H.264 video standard is analyzed. The global chart of H.264 standard is researched. The decode flow of macro blocks in frame and macro blocks between frames is researched two. We also think of special and time complexity of the decoder of H.264 based on multimedia DSP.
