With the development of society and technology, people have new requirement for the communication mode with computer, thereby Virtual Reality (VR) technique appears. And VR based on Internet, that is distributed Virtual Reality (DVR), become a hotspot in current study of computer technology with the development of computer technology and the prevalence of internet. It is a integration of computer graphics technique, multimedia technique, sensor technique, display technique, simulation technique, Internet technique and so on. It builds virtual scenes on Internet to implement functions that multi-users from different places can immerse and communicate with each ohter in the same virtual scene freely.Nowadays, the international study on DVR is mostly applied in military simulation and less applied in other fields. Meanwhile the relative standards and protocols on DVR (such as DIS, HLA) are aimed at large scene, multi-entity simulation and multi-OS-platform, and run on large scale workstation, it cannot adapt to middle and small business. Therefore, this thesis is aimed at constructing a DVR system based on Internet 3-layers B/S structure and Java-VRML technique, so as to provide a DVR system featured low cost, swift structure, strong expansibility, convenient maintenance, thin client without installation.This thesis introduces theory and technique of DVR system based on Internet 3-layers B/S structure and Java-VRML in detail, implements the application of 3-layers structure in Internet-based DVR and compartmentalize system's function structure, makes browser and Applet as display tool of virtual scene so as to implement installation-free on client-end completely, implements real-time synchronization between different users' scene based the technique of SOCKET communication and multi-threading, defines format of scene-refreshing data package according to this system after consulting existing format. Then construct a test system that is of DVR integrated above techniques.The main performance in this thesis can be category as: applies the 3-layers B/S structure to construct a DVR system, compartmentalizes the system's function structure according to its feature, makes browser and Applet as display tool of virtual scene so as to implementinstallation-free on client-end completely, defines format of scene-refreshing data package according to this system after consulting existing forma, constructs a test system that is of DVR integrated all these techniques and get satisfied effect.
