Chaos control and synchronization is one of the most important problems in the field of non-linear dynamics. Recently, Erbium-doped fiber laser has attracted much more attentions for its greatly potential application. It establish good theory and experimental foundation for the application of erbium-doped fiber lasers in optic communication, optic detection etc. to study control and synchronization of chaotic erbium-doped fiber lasers. Therefore the investigation about its chaos control and synchronization has become a forward problem.In the dissertation, we mainly investigate the control and synchronization of chaos in erbium-doped fiber laser. Simultaneously, we do a pilot study for its application in secure communication. The whole paper can be taken into two parts: chaos control, chaos synchronization and its application.In the first part, after summing up the recent development of optic chaos, an outline of important results of research on erbium-doped fiber laser is given. After that, the process and method of chaos generation in erbium-doped fiber dual-ring laser are discussed. Next we analyzed the stability of its stable solution and determined the condition of the threshold. We present a new method of controlling chaos to erbium-doped fiber dual-ring laser, namely, chaotic pulse feedback. We given concrete scheme and good result are obtained.The second part is mainly connected with chaos synchronization and its application. We use driving parameter method realized acute synchronization of two chaotic erbium-doped fiber dual-ring lasers and given concrete scheme. We use driving method of chaos realized hyperchaos synchronization. Finally, we go further into the application of chaos in secure communication.
