The study of online individualized instruction is one of current hot spots of online education research. The web provides the alternative learning environment for individualized learning. The wide-range application of online education system advocates the teaching environment in which learner is the center, and enables the learner to "individualized study".The thesis puts emphases on how to design a student-model which has adaptive characteristic and how to apply component technology to the development and application of courseware teaching system as well as how to provide individualized instruction environment for learner. I hope my studies can provide some new mentalities for the web-based education.First, the thesis analyzes the development tendency of web-based education as well as questions about individualized instruction of the present web-based education. Secondly, the thesis pays much attention to the theory of web-based individualized instruction and student model. It regards SCO courseware which follows SCORM-compatible specifications as basic composition unit of educational resource, constructs a web-based education system which meets the student's individualized need of type of media, degree of difficulty, teaching strategy as well as interactive degree. The thesis presents the systematic design based on the .NET framework multi-tier architecture. It offers the integrated design such as system framework, function module and database structure. According to the design, I develop the course register system and online teaching system. It realizes the interface which based on .NET Web service between SCO courseware and server. The last part of the thesis is the summary of the system.
