As common computer technologies are coming forth into testing and measuring fields, new bus technologies emerge in multitude, however, during the past 20 years, IEEE-488(GPIB) and RS-232 Interface are widely used in automatic measurement and control system, most of the programmable instruments are equipped with GPIB and RS-232 interface; Windows operating system become very popular and HP-UNIX operating system is still used in instrument system. To ensure these instruments play their roles together with new computer technologies during their longevities, it is necessary to endow bus technologies new features and enlarge these instruments' functions.Based on the background mentioned above, this thesis ushers in measurement and control system's future when multi-buses are used and instrument control software' up-compatibility during network times. Both GPIB and RS-232 interface are introduced in this thesis. Combined with engineering projects, this thesis describes bus technologies application in HP3562A Dynamic Signal Analyzer System and Gear Test&Measurement Center adopting Windows2000/NT as firmware developing platform. Finally, measurement and control system based on network are also probed into theoretical.The bus technologies applied in this thesis not only reinforce old measurement and control system. But also apply computer technologies and network technologies to measuring and control system soundly. As well as feasible methods for multi-buses technologies compatibility are provided.
