As a key technology of process modeling and process management, workflowtechnology can be combined with other business management systems, such as OfficeAutomation, E-government System, Project Management, Customer RelationshipManagement, Supply Chain Management, Enterprise Resources Planning, and so on, toimprove the efficiency and transparency of government work and to realize businessprocess reengineering of enterprises. The existing problem of workflow modeling is that, there isn't one ripe workflowmodel and the method of its semanteme formalized expression method, which isadaptive to the characteristics of Office Automation field yet. This paper first introduces the basic concept and its development of workflow, provides the workflow reference model defined by Workflow Management Coalition. Therefore, the main research work of this paper is the analysis of complex workflows inOffice Automation and process modeling research. All of these works are based on《Xi'an But'one Corporation's Collaboration Office Automation System 1.0》on J2EEplatform, and based on the sub system named 《apply & approve office implements》ofit. The primary work of this article is following:(1) Perform an elementary research on academic status & developing trend of workflow;(2) Taking the workflows of sub system——《apply & approve office implements》 for example , put forward the way that self-define and before-define combine .Then gropingly advance a model abbreviated by EMTWS ,and comparing with EDFD,EPC to respectively put forward some workflow models of the sub system by these three tools, eventually sum up theirs advantages and disadvantages. This paper draw the conclusion finally: EMTWS model is comparatively oneadaptive process modeling method in Office Automation field from theory to practice.
