Research On The Modeling Technology In Workflow Based On Time-Color-Petri Net

Recently, Workflow Management technology, a rapidly developing technology, has been applied to many trades. The main characteristic is that it can make business process automated in whole or part, according to a series of rules, using computer information technology. The most important function of workflow management system is modeling. The model must reflect business process, and it's necessary to find a way to express workflow process. The model must be analyzed to confirm whether it is sound. The workflow-net which put forward by Aalst is a typical representation.More numerous scholars and specialists have identified with workflow net based on classical Petri net. It, therefore, can describe sequence, concurrent and conflict. And it makes system visual and understandable. There, however, are some limitations: it is difficult to control flow of business, and it can't describe timeliness activity. So the paper extends classical Petri net by time and color. Then it puts forward workflow net based on Time-Color-Petri net and mapping arithmetic from business process to workflow net.Soundness verification of model is always a difficult question of process definition. Some scholars put forward a verification arithmetic based on graph reduction. These arithmetics pay attention to reduction of Time-Petri net, not Time-Color-Petri net. And it can reduce simple control structure, not complex structure. Based on these arithmetics, the paper brings forward a graph reduction arithmetic for workflow net based on Time-Color-Petri net.At last, the paper designs a modeling tool for metadata output of workflow model. The tool applies standard of XPDL released by WfMC, backups visual operation and model redisplay. And it realizes mapping arithmetic from business process to workflow net.
