Research And Implement Of Workflow Definition Tool Based On XPDL

There are lots of procedural applications in E-Government and other fields, including official documents transferring, administration examination and approving, and declaration through the internet etc. All of these applications require some general functions especially the support of the workflow engine .As a result of separation of process logic and application logic by the establishment style of workflow model , the workflow management technology has good operability. By modifying process logic (workflow model)to improve the system function , it can realize the integrated management of business process without modifying the implementation of specified functional model . This paper focuses on the development of a workflow definition tool.In this paper, it firstly introduces the basic concept of workflow and the reference model of workflow given by Workflow Management Coalition(WfMC). Then it introduces the related technology of workflow definition and the current research on workflow . According to the workflow standard made by WfMC , this paper introduces the basic concept , analyzes the systemic structure of workflow definition ,and studies a graphic workflow definition tool named Together Workflow Edit (TWE). It also analyzes the parsing process of XML Processing Description Language(XPDL) , and finally stores the meta-data of flow definition into meta-object-database.A workflow definition system subjected to the official documents transferring is reconstructed, and an OAS is designed. The system mainly realizes the documents dispatching flow definition and flow processing. The dispatching flow mainly includes the drafting , examination , signing ,release and etc. In the process of implementation, OAS mainly contains two parts , namely , the systematic setting and application of dispatching flow .
