Network management shows vital importance in the more and more complicated network environment. As the main part for the current transport network, SDH plays an important role. It is essential to manage the SDH network effectively and as simple as possible. SDH management network is a subclass of TMN (Telecommunication Management Network). The management ability of the CMIP (Common Management Information Protocol) based SDH network management system is powerful while the implementation is complex. Compared with CMIP, the SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) based SDH network management system is promising in market for its practicability, simplicity and convenience to maintain. However, as far as I know, until now, among many SNMP-based solutions to SDH network management, nobody has brought out a solution to the route of the SNMP-PDU inside the SDH network.This thesis first discusses the systematic structure of SNMP. The key routing technologies applied on the Internet are researched and compared. The characteristic of many SDH networks is analyzed, and the advantages and importance of the implementation of such route solution in SDH network management based on SNMP are brought forward.Based on it, this thesis analyzes the protocol stacks between and within the network-elements. By taking the SDH devicees and the characteristic of SDH network into full consideration, referring to the RIP, which is used as a route protocol on Internet, this thesis proposes a route solution to those SNMP-PDUs for the SDH network management system by improving and amending the RIP.Following the object-oriented methodology, this thesis provides the design and the implementation scheme of this route solution based on the platform of RTOS(Real Time Operation System). The system consists of socket maintenance module, packet sending and receiving module, STM maintenance module and the route table maintenance module. The main function, the implementation method and the ideas of the important classes of modules are discussed further. With the multitask method, every modules are divided into several tasks which can run simultaneously.Finally, the test of this route solution is given, which includes the construction and maintenance of route table, and the actual routing function on the SNMP packet, as well as the test of all function modules. The systematic scheme and implementation of this system are proved to be practicable by the testing result.
