Report is an important component in Manage Information System (MIS), the design and build of the report is one of the most difficult questions during the course of MIS construction. In this article we aim at the development of a report tool which can facilitate both the MIS developers and all the Chinese enterprise users. For this purpose, a new implementation scheme of report tool is put forward based on F1Book, a new form editing ActiveX control, after analyzing and comparing many kinds of report developing tools. Our main research work list as following:The function objects of report tool are outlined after analyzing the problems when designing and building Chinese style report. The character of control F1Book's function is analyzed, then the main frame of report tool is constructed, finally the modules' function and structure of the report editor are designed and analyzed.A general query wizard is added into the report tool, the wizard can fulfill the demand of connecting and querying from the database using ADO technology. We also design the interactive interface in a friendly manner, which facilitate the users when querying and fetching necessary data. The implementation of the function modules of the report editor is explained in details. The report editor is embedded into the new report control F1BookReporter with component editor technology of Delphi. Thus the report editor can be opened in the program develop environment. A new method was added into F1BookReporter which can open the report editor the MIS is running. Finally, two instances of report design with the use of the newly developed report tool are presented, which proves that this report tool can handle most of the Chinese style report well and has a promising future.
