Regional networked manufacturing (RNM) as an advanced manufacturing paradigm is a wonderful combination of manufacturing technology and management theory. It serves perfectly development of regional industrial economy, and paves an ideal avenue to the promotion of networked manufacturing and collaborative manufacturing commerce. Research and development of a platform for supporting this advance mode of manufacturing has therefore been a focus in the relevant fields of research and application.Based on some research on the status in quo of the relevant fields at home and abroad, some basic principles and key technologies are investigated in this thesis about RNM. Focus has been put in this on the relevant application of the technique of CSCW. With these studies, and respecting the present situation of that area in enterprise informationalization as well as specific needs arisen in the practice of networked manufacturing among SMEs there, a detailed planning has been conducted on the organizational objectives and informational structure of the Guangxi Regional Networked Manufacturing Service System. The design of the function framework and software architecture for the networked manufacturing platform as core of the GRNMS has been given.Following the above framework design and planning, and aiming at the requirements of collaborative interactions in networked manufacturing, the Java-based Online Collaborative Working System is proposed, which makes use of the compound advantages inherent in the techniques of Java and CSCW. In addition to this architectural design, some in-depth investigations have been made on some key components of JOCoW, such as the concurrency control, collaboration awareness and browser-based accessing to local resource. In the light of OOSE (Oriented Object Software Engineering), the system model, work flow and the protocol on the application layer have been designed for it, and using for reference the Struts model, partial implementation of the system has been realized.Finally, in the application of the above research and development results into the remote operation of RPM (Rapid prototype manufacturing) in the Guangxi Institute of Mechanical Industry, analysis and planning has been made on the business process, supporting environment and operation mode of the JOCoW-supported remote RPM system. Preliminary implementation has therefore been realized with JOCoW as a technological support in the carrying out of this networked manufacturing activity.
