An Application Study Of Metadata Directory Service Based On Water Resources Information

This paper reports a conception of metadata of water resources information and makes an application study of metadata directory service based on it to decrease the difficulty of water resources information exchange and to increase the level of water resources information share.This paper fabricates metadata directory service(MDS) which integrates directory service and metadata of water resources data which are structural or semi-structural or non-structural.By MDS, water resources data which are distributed in wide area will be able to be shared in logical.MDS in which data modeling is frabricated by using XML schema is composed of local metadata directory service (Local MDS) and global metadata directory cache (Global MDC) The data providers publish their data and data requestors search and find the data they want by MDS which acts a role of data registry.The experimention in this paper proves that MDS is excellent in sreaching and accessing densified information which are deployed in wide area.Using MDS which can output standard results formed by XML,the cost of transfer through network and searching directory can be decreased greatly.
