Multichannel signal sampling system based on ATM is applied to the distributed sonar matrix for data transfer in the domain of our coast defence. It is an important research area of our military equipment information technology construction. Combining the embedded system and ATM communication protocol, this paper describes the software design, implementation, optimization and testing for a gateway system in the multichannel signal sampling system.Chapter 1 provides an overview of the military information technology, embedded system and ATM technology, and gives the significance, target and content of the research work.Chapter 2 introduces the embedded system and ATM communication. The embedded system part includes embedded microprocessors and embedded operating systems. The Motorola MPC8260 microprocessor and MontaVista Linux OS, used in the gateway system, is presented in details. The ATM communication part presents the ATM conceptions, theory and application.Chapter 3 presents the architecture of the multichannel signal sampling system, consisting of 20 16-channel sampling modules, 2 photic/electric conversion systems, a gateway system and master computer system.Chapter 4 is focused on the design of the gateway subsystem. This part includes hardware structure, software interface with other subsystem, software modules division in the gateway subsystem and the interface between the modules.Chapter 5 discusses the detailed software implementation. It describes the most important data structure, introduces the main software flows and the thread model.Chapter 6 discusses the optimization on the gateway subsystem. It mainly focuses on the subsystem functions extending, performance improving and reliability enhancing.Chapter 7 presents the system testing progress. It also gives some important testing data and result.Chapter 8 gives the main research conclusion and the prospect of further research work.
