Research On Automatic Monitoring System Of Mobile Networks Based On SMS

With the fast development of economy, mobile communication is coming into people's daily life as a convenient approach. Meanwhile, communication quality has become a concern for working dealers and consumers. To optimize communication quality, an automatic monitoring system of mobile networks based on short message was designed.Automatic monitoring system of mobile networks is a distributed system. It was composed of terminal monitoring instruments and monitoring center. The data between terminal monitoring instruments and its center are exchanged through mobile short messages service. In order to realize the communication between the terminal monitoring instruments and the center, a communication protocol was designed. Within the protocol, the pattern that the center instructs an instrument and the instrument responses to it was defined. The terminal instruments test parameters of local mobile communication network. These parameters will be sent to the center by different short messages according to the protocol. The center parsed short messages according to the protocol, and consequently, the center can inspect the communication quality of mobile networks. The center controls the operation of monitoring instruments by sending different short messages according to the protocol. The terminal monitoring instrument is composed of standard GSM module and Single Chip Micyoco(SCM). The latter sends AT instructions to the former through serial port communication, then SCM collects parameters and data automatically to receive instructions of the monitoring center, and at last the installation of parameters can be realized.The software of monitoring center has been developed under Microsoft VC++ 6.0 IDE. It can instruct the terminal monitoring instrument, receive the collected data, analyze and deal with these parameters of mobile communication networks, real time monitor communication quality of mobile network, and warn base station against low communication quality. It can also satisfy customers' demand for inquiring communication quality and offer printing forms for reporting statistics. The automatic monitoring system can efficiently improve network optimization.
