The research on the sharing and interoperating of the distributed, heterogeneous spatial information is one of the most active research areas today. Spatial Information Grid (SIG) is a novel infrastructure to meet such requirement. SIG is designed to integrate computers, geospatial data sources, information processing equipments and services on the network, thus to provide on-demand services to users.First, the paper summarizes the distributed computing technology, and introduces the concept, architecture and the application model of SIG. Next, an integration model of Regional Data Integration based on SIG services is proposed. Last, a prototype Regional Data Integration system is developed based on SIG services. This paper focuses on the following issues:1. Development methods of SIG systems based on the distributed computational model.2. Integration of different thematic spatial data sets of the same region.3. Implementation of the standard services based on OGC specifications.4. Dynamic invoking of services.5. Binding of spatial data and non-spatial data.6. Implementation of spatial analysis services with ArcObject software components, and the displaying of the results.
